To become a licensed cosmetologist in Idaho, candidates must:

  • Complete the tenth grade.
  • Be at least sixteen and a half years of age.
  • Complete 2000 hours of training for cosmetology or 400 hours for nail technology, 600 hours for esthetics or 800 hours for electrology.
  • Graduate from approved school.
  • Pass the National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology theory and practical exams.
