Idaho Assumed Business Name (DBA)

An Assumed Business Name is also called a “Doing Business As” name or DBA.

Idaho DBA registrations last for 5 years with the State. Although they do not reserve your assumed name, it does show a little more legitimacy for you when you use the name. Idaho banks will open bank accounts for people just using an assumed business name.

Having a DBA is really stupid in Idaho. The Idaho LLC only costs $101 to set up, reserves your name so others can’t take it, doesn’t have an annual report fee, and provides you liability protection.

It is amazing how many businesses I run into day after day in Idaho that are just an Idaho DBA. An Idaho DBA is just that… “Doing business as.” Think about what that means… You are PERSONALLY doing business as that name. That means that you don’t really have a separate entity out there, it’s just you.

We fix clients’ Idaho DBAs every week. For $250 total, we’ll set up your proper Idaho LLC and then for another $50 we will help you cancel your DBA so you can legally operate under the protection of a LLC.
